The Strathspey Railway’s on board catering is now operated “in house” by the company. Our focus is on providing consistent quality and excellent customer service to our dining passengers. Join us on your visit to the Highlands for fresh, locally sourced food served by our staff and volunteers as you travel through the scenic Cairngorms National Park, in the comfort of our heritage carriages.
Light Luncheon – Normal Service Days at 12:30
Travelling alongside the famous River Spey, our Light Luncheon service consists of a lovely selection of sandwiches and a warm bowl of soup, freshly prepared on board by our catering chef – there will be a choice of 2 soups every day, accompanied by a cup of tea or coffee.
Adult passenger price £24, Child passenger price £12.50 (return travel included) with First Class options also available.

Afternoon Tea – Normal Service Days at 14:45
Step aboard our vintage train and be transported back to a time when Afternoon Tea was a tradition for many families. In the 1950’s many hotels and high-end stores served Afternoon tea at three o’clock.
Today, our Afternoon Tea service is unique in the Highlands, as it transports you through the beautiful Scottish countryside while relaxing with a fine selection of sandwiches, mouth watering cakes from a local speciality baker, scones (baked on board with local jam and cream) together with a choice of speciality teas.
We have a selection of speciality teas or coffee if preferred.

Traditional Sunday Luncheon – Departs Aviemore at 13:00
A classic three course Traditional Sunday Luncheon served on board our vintage dining train, which travels alongside the River Spey. Choose from 3 traditional starters, mains and deserts, with a cup of tea or coffee and a sweet treat (local fudge or tablet) to finish. We are pleased to announce that this dining service will usually be hauled by classic Caledonian locomotive 828; Glasgow built in 1899.
Adult passenger price £43 Child passenger price £21.50, (return travel included).
The journey takes approximately two hours.
First Class options also available.

Due to Food Hygiene regulations, dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) are not permitted in the dining areas of any of our trains. This includes the first class compartments on the 10.30 departure.
