This year marks the 40th anniversary of the start of timetabled railway services between Boat of Garten station and Speyside station Aviemore. To celebrate this important anniversary, the Strathspey Railway is holding a two-day celebration of steam at Boat of Garten railway station, which will feature the railway’s own Steam and Diesel Locomotives as well as a number of vintage steam lorries and traction engines. There will be a model railway display which will include models from the famous Kennedy collection and stalls from local businesses and organisations.
Our own steam & diesel locomotives will be operating along with full sized traction engines and steam lorries.
Ticket price includes unlimited travel on all service throughout the subject to availability.
Steam engine departure times are as follows: 10:30, 12:30, 14:30 & 16:30 from Aviemore
Diesel departure times are as follows: 11:30, 13:30 & 15:30
Our DMU will be doing the last run at 17:20

Trains will run hourly from Aviemore the first one departing at 10:30.
Live music and other entertainment. Catering will be available from the railway’s catering train which will be stationed at the island platform .
Entrance price at Boat of Garten Station is £5.00 for adults and OAPs. Entry is free for children up to 15 years old. The price for a train ticket to the event (from Aviemore or Broomhill) is £20 for adults, all others at the standard timetable prices.

There is no car parking at Boat of Garten station on the 21st or 22nd. A temporary car park will be available on the road out of Boat of Garten towards the B970 junction. A vintage MacBrayne’s bus will ferry people to and from the event. The location of the car park will be signposted and advertised on FB and the railway’s website.
Access to the event is only at the main station entrance, off Station Square adjacent to the Boat Hotel. Vehicle access at the station entrance car park is restricted to a drop-off point for disabled visitors. There is no access for vehicles or pedestrians to what is normally the main station car park, through the Golf and Tennis club car park.
